There are 15 strategically-placed CAER Sirens surrounding the chemical complexes. They can be heard within an approximate 1 mile radius of their location. They stand 50 feet high and are radio controlled. These sirens are tested every Monday beginning at 12:10 p.m., and will sound for 45 seconds.
The CAER siren alert is only sounded in the community it affects. The all clear is the same siren. (This is different than the plant sirens which have specific patterned signals.)
